NCJRS' International Document Exchange (IDE) program serves as a worldwide, collaborative network among non-U.S. criminal and juvenile justice, substance abuse, and victim services organizations. Comprised of members from 61 countries (not all members are publicly listed on the IDE site), and coordinated by the NCJRS Virtual Library, it is designed to address the unique information needs of the field and foster cross-border information exchange between organizations that share similar missions, objectives, and interests.
IDE members receive email notifications of new publication releases, news, and announcements from the NCJRS U.S. Department of Justice partner agencies that include links to the online full text of publications (when available) and an order form for obtaining no cost hardcopies of available resources and materials. In exchange, IDE members are asked to contribute reports and studies that present their country's justice system and address contemporary crime, substance abuse, and victim-related issues in their countries to the NCJRS Virtual Library. IDE member submissions are reviewed for inclusion in the NCJRS Virtual Library collection, a repository of more than 225,000 resources, and become publically accessible via the NCJRS Abstracts Database.
